Lucky tie
On October 15th I had the opportunity to present program PRIF-Berga (Intensive Functional Rehabilitation Program) at the XXIV SLAOT Congress (Latin American Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology) in the presence of leading international experts in prosthetics knee much of Latin America, US, Spanish and German. It was the first time we presented it in the other side of the Atlantic.
The program PRIF-Berga has established facts differentials that 2.5 years ago were pioneers and now are becoming the “gold standard” (clinical practice more recommended) many services Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology. The program continues to improve, but some of their top bets at that time (dexamethasone, ondansetron, Voluven, family responsibility, type briefing, withdrawal passive RHB, withdrawal gabapentin, LIA with ropivacaine, barbed suture, new discharge criteria … ) are becoming increasingly consolidated.
We received congratulations. They want to hear more in next year Congress. The live broadcast by Periscope was seen more than 200 orthopedic surgeons. When I returned to sit my seat companion, Dr. Alwin Almeida (Cayman Islands) told me verbatim “a powerful presentation,” surprised around some of the most innovative pictures we bring from Berga. The president of the SLAOT, Dr. Felix Villalobos (Mexico DF) congratulated us: “Excellent results and a very didactic and powerful talk”, also other American, Colombians and Germans doctors with who discussed current trends for this type surgery. We have more people who want to work in this line and this will help us. We introduced the month of May at the Hospital Vall d’Hebron (Barcelona) and next Monday October 24th will visit us the Head of the Hospital Josep Trueta (Girona) to see how we practice this kind of surgeries in Berga. The tie? It was new. It was a present of a patient I have in Berga. It gives me luck.
